SANE Sane Magic Item Prices (current printing)

MSRP Merchant's Sorcerous Rarities Pricelist

Items Without Prices

Items that won’t be priced

Some items are intentionally omitted because their effects are too random, too powerful, economically disruptive, inherently plot-driven, or simply not things their owners would sell.

  • Candle of Invocation — lessons learned from earlier editions.

  • Deck of Many Things — too random to price usefully.

  • Efreeti Bottle, Iron Flask, Ring of Three Wishes, and Luck Blade — access to wishes defeats a stable price.

  • Well of Many Worlds — effectively a campaign-level travel device.

  • Wand of Wonder, Helm of Brilliance, and Bag of Beans — too random to price usefully.

  • Ring of Djinni Summoning — combines too many gamechanging effects to plausibly appear for sale.

  • Bag of Tricks — creating permanent living creatures has extreme economic consequences.

  • Tome of the Stilled Tongue — an owner would not plausibly sell it.

  • Manuals and tomes that grant +2 to an ability — better treated as party-wide advancement rewards.

  • Belts and Potions of Giant Strength — break bounded accuracy.

  • Rod of Resurrection — better treated as a plot device.

  • Staff of the Magi — too powerful for ordinary sale.

  • Manual of Golems — a blueprint rather than an item; price it according to the campaign’s recipe rules.

  • Cursed items — excluded from ordinary pricing.
